Beginning in 1959, The Fabulous Chancellors have enjoyed 65 years of recognition as a classic rock 'n' roll show and dance band. With nearly thirty original recorded songs on six completed album collections, The Fabulous Chancellors have also distinguished themselves on record, two of which, "Diamond in the Sky" and "Hey Girl," achieved substantial national airplay and popularity in the early 60's. Two 1990 recordings, "(Me and My Baby Like) Old Songs" and tongue-in-cheek "I'm Cool" subsequently achieved widespread airplay across the nation on select radio stations.

ROCK THE RIVER: J.R & The Stingrays
Rock the River is a summer concert series held on select evenings from 5:30–8:30 p.m. at the River’s Edge Terrace, nestled along the Boise Greenbelt between The Sandbar and Telaya. These free, all-ages shows feature live music in a laid-back, scenic setting with a bar available on the terrace. Guests are welcome to bring a lawn chair and get comfy. No outside food or beverages, please.
J.R. & the Stingrays are a Boise-based oldies rock and roll band established in 1985. They perform a Sha-Na-Na style oldies show with a vintage flair reminiscent of the American Graffiti era. The Stingrays cover tunes from Bill Haley & the Comets, The Drifters, Beatles, Elvis and many other great rock and roll artists of the past.

21 year-old Izzy Burns is an American singer-songwriter. Her music encompasses several genres, including Pop, Americana, Jazz, and Alternative Rock.
Lee Penn Sky & Dan Costello
Lee plays folk-oriented songs that span the Americana range, and are rooted in his Michigan childhood and the high-plains desert of Idaho, where he now resides. He has an affinity for Texan songwriters like Robert Earl Keen, Steve Earle, Willie Nelson, and the late great Townes Van Zandt. While these artists inform Lee Penn Sky’s music, he doesn’t emulate his heroes. Poetic yet unadorned songwriting, his metaphorical lyrics have a way of cutting to the heart of a matter. His presentation is often compared to Colin Hay's solo work and has a unique, rootsy, direct and often melancholic style of conveying his lyrics, mixed with his rich baritone voice, lends to very intimate feeling performances.

The Mystics
The Mystics are the Boise area’s longest-running classic rock group and the only one still with an original member. The band’s extensive repertoire includes hits from the ’60s by the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Byrds, the Everly Brothers, CCR, Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young, the Lovin’ Spoonful and more. And, because audiences are getting younger, newer hits by Tom Petty and the Hearbreakers, the Traveling Wilburys, Bob Dylan, Huey Lewis and the News and others.

Jazz Monday: Mat Marucci’s Avant-Bop Quartet

Mat Marucci is an active performer, author, educator, and clinician listed in Who's Who In America, International Who's Who In Music (Cambridge, England) and the Institute of Jazz Studies (Rutgers University). His performing credits include, among others, jazz greats Jimmy Smith, Kenny Burrell, James Moody, Eddie Harris, Buddy De Franco, Les McCann, Pharoah Sanders, and John Tchicai.
Mat has numerous critically acclaimed recordings to his credit as a leader and others as a sideman, including those with John Tchicai and Jimmy Smith, and is also the author of several books on drumming for both Lewis Music and Mel Bay Publications. His recordings and books have garnered four and five star reviews in Jazz Times, Jazziz, Modern Drummer, Downbeat and Drum! magazines and have also received nominations for awards.
Additionally, Mat has written numerous articles on drumming for Modern Drummer and Downbeat magazines and for the Percussive Arts Society's Percussive Notes and Percussion News. He has also been an adjunct faculty member for both American River College (Sacramento, CA) and The Jazzschool (Berkeley, CA) and is an endorser for Zildjian cymbals, Vic Firth drumsticks, and Remo drumheads.
